Booked a four night at this hotel with two friends and had a great time. At first sight the location of the hotel may not appear to be ideal for a holiday break but if you are prepared to drive the extra mile ( e.g. within an hour or so) a whole range of interesting places become available e.g. Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Salisbury, Stonehenge. Avesbury, Marlborough, Woodstock, Cirencester, the Cotswolds, Wootton Bassett & Bath etc. Not to forget the Steam Museum at Swindon itself and a whole range of other places...
The hotel in its own right is somewhat of a little gem – we found that nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the rooms are clean and modern although I understand a small number require refurbishment. The food is good and well cooked [food tip – the standard table-d’ hote menu offers about four choices per course, but if you ask, an allowance (in our case £19.50) was available on a much more extensive menu.] The Hotel is easy to find and has a large car park.
All of our party enjoyed the break and are considering a return trip at some time to pick up all the sights that we were unable to fit into our original break
