Premier collection... Premier break!
Welcomed with a glass of mulled wine on a miserable Friday night... and it just got better!

We were appointed a room in the main hotel... and it was perfect!
NO noise that I was aware of.
Beautiful room... queen sized bed... dressing gown, slippers, bottled water... comp sweets... luxury toiletries... flat sceen tv with freeview... and even a speaker from the tv in the bathroom with on/off volume control! I kid you not!

Staff were all very polite and friendly, and every one we spoke to had worked there for a number of years! A very good sign.

On some stays, we have been hit with an ''allowance'' towards dinner... despite the a la carte menu having main courses costing up to £29.99 (sirloin steak), there were NO hidden costs or allowance limits here!

Three courses... just pay for additional sides if you want them! More than fair, especially given the quality of food!

Well... I say that... It's hard to put a number ''1 - 5'' on how I rated the food, because if it wasn't 5 (which it mostly was, then it was a 1).

How so?

I had the best sirloin I've tasted in years... cooked to perfection.
Salt-Marsh lamb which was succulent and again cooked to perfection.
Belly Pork... with a crisp crackling... great.

As a starter, I had the best salade nicoise I've ever tasted, and a number of other memorable dishes.

The chefs habit of supplying a wee Amuse Bouche each evening was also a lovely touch!

One night though, my rib-eye came RAW through the majority of it! I like medium rare... can eat rare... this needed longer in the grill to qualify as 'blue'! Easily remedied and not a major problem... however...

the following night, I re-ordered the salade nicoise, having loved the first one so much. Definately a different chef... different ingredients and totally different presentation... but alarmingly, the tuna steal was raw most of the way through! For me, with fish, that is an absolute no-no!

I did send it back and they didn't just grill the tuna, they recreated the whole dish... so any complaint I had was effectively dealt with... I was just disappointed that with every other dish being so wonderful, such basic errors could undermine the good work!

I would definately go back to the hotel, and would definately dine in the restaurant again.

This was the best quality hotel we have ever stayed in via East-breaks by far!
