What can I say, this was our first visit to this hotel, it was for my wife's 70th birthday and after reading some of the negative reviews we were having some doubts and a bit of apprehension prior to our visit which proved to be ill founded after our arrival. What planet are these people on with the negative views, have they just come from Gleneagles or some place like that. We had one or two negative points, but were overridden by the positives. The downside as there were three coach parties in at the time of our visit, the queues for the buffet breakfast was quite long and slow to get served. We had snowfalls during our stay, and was a bit disappointed that even by 1000hrs there had been nobody out to clear the snow from the entrance and the stairs, granted we did not complain or draw their attention to the fact this could be a safety hazaard. The plus points were to name a few, I had phoned earlier to ask for a nice room as it was my wifes birthday, when they checked our booking the girl said we were already allocated a superior room, and yes we were including a bottle up bubbly. The meals were excellent for our three nights, service was faultless as well. Another plus point was the Chef came round the dining tables during our meal time and asked if everything was alright, which it was, this is a first for us in all of the hotels that we have frequently stayed at that this has happened, a really nice touch. Reception staff were courteous and helpful and freindly. We were on packed lunch each day of our visit, they also did us proud with that as well, a bottle of water, a packet of crisps, fruit, apple or orange, and a double sandwich. What more can we ask for except to hope they keep up the good work until our next visit. If the scoring were out of 10 then in our case it would be a10. Might I add that this is going to be our base in any future visits to Deeside, we USED to like the Loirstone in Ballater, now The Deeside Inn and after two visits in March & October last year and no improvement, The Deeside Inn is OFF the favourites list.
