Stayed here for one night with my wife en route to Manchester Airport. Had a bar meal with a bottle of wine. All okay. The hotel is a little dated but offers excllent value for money whether you are staying for one night or for an extended cheap break. I last stayed here two years ago for a mini break and made use of the swimming pool, spa and gym. It sits very near to the M6 and if you don't mind this, it provides an excellent location for touring the Lancashire coast. In its heyday it would have been full of business travellers and would have been relatively expensive for tourist visitors but when I stayed there for the mini break, there were notices saying that the hotel was in the hands of administrators. It was obviously a going concern but being run on a shoestring. This situation doesn't seem to have changed. The bar is a giveaway, the fridges behind the bar are all empty and the hotel runs on a skeleton staff. However the fabric of the place is remarkably good. The rooms offer comfortable basic accommodation with bathroom with loads of hot water. Breakfast is self-service and of the as-much-as-you-can-eat variety. If you are looking for a stopover or a cheap mini break, the Preston Swallow is worth considering. If you like a hotel with a pool and gym, I can't see how you could find better value. When staying for the mini break, we had evening meals too included in a fabulous deal. If your expectations are reasonable then you will have a pleasant break.
