In and around Matlock

Peak District National Park

This pristine expanse of luscious moors, dales, rivers, springs and caverns is an ideal location for those who love the outdoors. Whether you’re mountain biking, hiking or planning a leisurely stroll, the Peak District has open spaces, stunning panoramic views and wonderful scenery for all. There are also a number of quaint towns and villages to visit here from Whaley Bridge to Castleton.

Heights of Abraham

One of the number one attractions in the Midlands, consisting of an exciting gondola cable car journey up to a hillside park, with abandoned cavern and mine tours and much more available. The tours take visitors deep into the abyss, into a network of caverns and passageways, retracing the footsteps of the miners themselves. It’s said that the Romans began the excavation of miners here, which continued well into the 17th century.

Chatsworth House

This iconic, stately home lies against a stunning backdrop of stone gardens, woodlands and the River Derwent. The estate is open to the public for exploration, from the open and luscious gardens, to the fantastical and grand interior. There is also a farmyard on the grounds, which holds milking demonstrations among other insights into daily life.
