In and around Swaffham

Castle Acre Priory

This monastic site is one of the most famous in England, a wonderful attraction where visitors get the chance to walk among the ruins of an 11th century Norman castle. The Priory was once home to the first Cluniac monks in England and is still relatively intact, with an iconic and beautiful exterior wall still standing. The priory is nestled upon the banks of the River Nar, making for some lovely walks that visitors can partake in on their visit.

Swaffham Museum

This small but sophisticated museum features fascinating exhibits ranging from the Stone Age, right up to the present day. The building is home to the Symonds collection of figures, which are based on literary and historical characters. There is also a wonderful military exhibit and a number of guest displays which alternate through the year.

Royal Sandringham

The official country retreat for the royal family, dating back to 1862 and covering four generations of royals. The grand house lies within 24 hectares of landscaped garden, within 8,000 acres of country estate land. Visitors can walk the beautiful gardens, visit the fascinating museum and tour the interior to view the impressive décor and marvellous art.
