Grasmere

Grasmere

This popular and idyllic village is located within the picturesque district of Cumbria, set in the heart of the gorgeous Lake District, Grasmere itself takes its name from the nearby lake. Visitors are often struck by the true serenity of this traditional English countryside town, nestled at the foot of the fells and with many footpaths leading intrepid wanderers on an adventure into the countryside. The town was inspiration and home to ‘bard of the lakes’ William Wordsworth for 14 years and he described it thusly, ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’, today visitors can pay respect at Wordsworth’s grave at the churchyard.

We love Grasmere because...

  • Stunning scenery
  • Ideal for countryside walks
  • Links to historic poets
