South West England
With over 300 miles of pristine beaches and coastline, the South West of England can make us feel like we are abroad at times, not to mention reaching some of the highest average temperatures in the British Isles in recent years. The fresh country air, rural seaside towns and outstanding local produce, are just some of the reasons visitors keep coming back time and again to visit ‘The English Rivera’.
The larger cities include Exeter, Plymouth and of course, the cultural hub that is Bristol. Experience a thriving arts and entertainment scene, with theatres, live music venues and art galleries in abundance. Head to Cornwall for the ultimate seaside location, with fantastic golden sand beaches where you can go surfing, or take part in a variety of other water sports. Alternatively take a wander to admire the coastline and the breath-taking seascapes.
Devon is a quintessential English countryside location, full of quaint towns and villages, glittered over the undulating green landscape. From seaside villages to market towns, the laid back pace of life, combined with the peaceful countryside setting make Devon an ideal location for a relaxing break. Bristol has a long and fascinating history dating back to the Iron Age and visitors can experience the ruins of hill forts and Roman villas from this time. Many travellers also visit the city for the thriving arts scene, which includes a number of theatres including the oldest continuously operating theatre in England ‘The Theatre Royal’.
With UNESCO World Heritage Sites, National Parks and many music and arts festivals to visit, the South West of England is a great spot for a holiday. So kick back, enjoy the rays and have a pint of local cider.
