Peasholm Park

Scarborough Castle

This castle ruin stands proud atop a rocky Cliffside, commanding wonderful vistas of the surrounding area. The site of the castle has seen around 3,000 years of history, serving as an Iron Age settlement, Roman fort and a Scandinavian settlement. The current stone exterior was built in the 12th century, with subsequent renovations and extensions carried out over the years. Visitors today can climb the battlements and learn more about the fascinating history of the castle through the exhibitions, displays and special events in the castle.
