York Castle Museum

This wonderful museum allows visitors to learn more about the storied history of York, celebrating the rich and fascinating history of the city. Featuring displays, exhibits and recreated rooms covering a number of topics. The building itself was erected on the site of York Castle, which was built by William the Conqueror in 1068.

York Minister

Northern Europe's largest gothic cathedral and a truly iconic sight within the city of York, showing off wonderfully intricate architecture. Visitors can admire the spectacular stained glass windows, stone masonry and vast, extravagant interior.

Jorvik Viking Centre

This one-of-a-kind visitor attraction reveals the fascinating history of the Norsemen who invades, settled and integrated into York and the surrounding areas. There are amazing reconstructions of longships, tools, costumes, streets and longhouses as well as a number of interesting relics on display. The site of the museum is atop one of the most important archaeological digs in England, which revealed houses, workshops and much more from the Viking city of Jorvik.
