Markinch Village

This quaint village lies nearby to Glenrothes in the picturesque countryside of Fife located halfway between St Andrews and Edinburgh. The town has a rich history dating back too 3,000 BC and many believe the area to have been the Pictish capital of Fife. There are many areas of historical interest to visit, including St Drostan’s Church, parts of which date back to the 11th century. There are a number of jogging and cycling trails in the area to explore, as well as woodland walks, which take visitors into the scenic Fife countryside.

Visitors will also enjoy easy access to Edinburgh in the South and Dundee to the north, allowing for day trips exploring some of the most iconic visitor attractions in Scotland. The neighbouring town of Glenrothes is nearby and allows for great shopping opportunities at the Kingdom Shopping Centre, golf at one of the many nearby courses or catching a show at the theatre.

We love Markinch because...

  • Picturesque countryside
  • Rich ancient history
  • Ideal for woodland walks
