In and around St Andrews

St Andrews Cathedral

Erected back in 1158 AD, this once grand cathedral fell into ruin due to the outlaw of the Catholic Mass. The remains today stand as a testament to what was once the largest church in Scotland, as well as housing a number of ancient Christian relics sculptures and sarcophagi. Guests can climb St Rule’s tower for stunning views over the surrounding area.

St Andrews Castle

This dramatic castle has been in ruins for centuries, but once stood as a dramatic sight in the North of St Andrews. The castle was the seat of the bishops of St Andrews and one of the centres of Catholicism in Scotland. Visitors can now explore the dungeon, mines and haunting exterior when visiting this 450 year old castle.

British Golf Museum

As one of the penultimate golf destinations in the world, St Andrews hosts this fascinating museum, which chronicles the history of golf in the region. Visitors to this museum can trace the game’s roots, exploring its evolution and displaying some of the game’s greatest players, innovators and leaders.
