Blairgowrie

One of the largest towns in Perthshire, Blairgowrie is home to numerous glens to explore and lochs to walk around. The town itself lies on the shores of the sparkling River Etrich and is surrounded by serene Highland countryside. Guests may visit the famous locations of Birnam and Glamis of Macbeth fame, and walk the ancient site of Birnam Wood in which the witch’s prophecy that Birnham Wood would come to Dunsinane came true.

Highlights of the local area include the many interesting museums such as the Alyth Museum that details the history of Alyth, Meigle Museum with a wealth of Celtic artefacts and Angus Folk Museum, which covers the agricultural history of the area. Travellers should also visit the nearby location of Glen Shee – a hotspot for sporting activities all year around, as well as abundant wildlife watching opportunities and stunning views.

We love Blairgowrie because...

  • Ideal for golfers
  • Great for outdoor activities
  • Alongside the River Etrich
