Tarbert

This scenic village is fortunately located within a natural harbour, surrounded by dramatic hills on the shores of East Loch Tarbert, an inlet of the grand Loch Fyne. Situated within Argyll and Bute, Tarbert represents an ideal location for both exploration of the Western Isles, but also the West Coast of Scotland, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and further afield to Glasgow. Visitors have many opportunities to get outside enjoying the great outdoors, from leisurely coastal walks, to loch-side cycling and hiking through the hills.

Visitors can also enjoy the traditional Highland character and hospitality on offer in many of the restaurants and pubs in the area. The village has been known for fishing since the Middle Ages and many kitchens make use of this, serving up some of the freshest and exquisite seafood in the country.

We love Tarbert because...

  • Idyllic loch-side location
  • Great for golfers
  • Ideal for outdoor lovers

Tarbert Castle

Tarbert has a fascinating local history, which can be learned through this mysterious and fascinating visitor attraction. A relic, dating back to the 13th century, which has fallen into ruin, yet still dominates the landscape of the area. Robert the Bruce himself played a large role in reinforcing and enlarging this castle in the 14th century. Visitors are also able to explore the wider area on a number of walks, many of which feature even better views of the castle.
