North West Castle Hotel offers visitors comfortable and convenient, town centre hotel accommodation in Stranraer. A family owned and run hotel for more than fifty years, ‘The Castle’ was formerly the home of Sir John Ross, the famous Arctic explorer, who was instrumental in the discovery of the ice bound trading route known as the ‘North West Passage’.
The hotel has 68 en-suite guestrooms in the hotel’s main building, and four in a separate annexe. Classic, Loch View and Loch View Plus rooms are available, with some of these featuring balconies and views out across Loch Ryan and Ailsa Craig.
Two dining options are available, both serving modern British cuisine. The Regency Dining Room is traditional and relaxed, and offers an à la carte menu and three course daily changing evening menu. The Alpine Grill Restaurant is open over curling season (October to March) and in addition to its à la carte menu, offers guests drinks, snacks and lunch.
The hotel has long been a hub for Scottish Curling and regularly hosts major national and international competitions, as well as open weekend competitions and tuition breaks 'Try Curling'.
North West Castle Hotel also offers guests leisure facilities in the way of a large games room with snooker and pool tables, table tennis, carpet bowling and a small selection of children’s toys.
