This inn is one of the oldest in the world, with a fascinating history dating back to 1135 AD. The timber building is located upon the picturesque banks of the River Thames. Over time this iconic hotel has become integral to East Berkshire and has seen a number of famous guests in its ancient halls from the treasonous John Lovelace, to the secret meeting between Winston Churchill and President Eisenhower in World War II. Today the inn sees many movie stars due to its proximity to Pinewood Studios, including Elizabeth Taylor, Errol Flynn and many more.
The ambient dining room is warm and welcoming with solid oak tables softened by tasteful Welsh woollen blankets and neutral shades of Farrow and Ball. The Olde Bell’s kitchen team serve simple, rustic, high quality food making sure guests experience some of the finest eating and drinking in Berkshire and have been awarded 2 AA rosettes to reflect such standard. Much time and effort has gone into sourcing and building relationships with local farmers and producers of the best organic ingredients, creating seasonal and constantly changing menus. Wherever possible they use ingredients ripe from our own gardens to keep our menus fresh, appealing and honest.
