Set in the charming and picturesque town of Bakewell, Rutland Arms Hotel offers old-fashioned charm and well-preserved period features. Make a visit and stay in one of the individually styled rooms, and a lucky guest might just be sleeping in the same room that Jane Austin once stayed in while visiting the nearby Chatsworth estate.
An elegant Georgian building, the hotel is actually a historical attraction in its own right – as the famous Bakewell pudding (not to be confused with iced Bakewell Tarts) were first invented in the Rutland Arms’ kitchens, back in the 19th century. Today, the kitchen is still producing some wonderful dishes, both for the AA Rosette-winning Square Restaurant and for the more relaxed Gateway Lounge Bar.
The Square Restaurant is a traditional but comfortable AA Rosette standard restaurant, which offers a menu that showcases the very best of fresh, local produce for a memorable fine-dining experience. While the experience is less formal in the stylish Gateway Lounge, the dedication to quality is the same – whether having a meal from bistro-style bar menu, a light snack or a relaxing drink.
