The Tinto Hotel is a traditional Scottish country house hotel, with a hundred years of history - well reflected in its elegant, original features and style; from the stunning stained glass window above the main stairway to the furnishings around the reception area. With a peaceful village setting and five acres of beautiful gardens surrounded by tranquil countryside, it’s an ideal setting for walking holidays, peaceful long weekends and romantic breaks in Scotland.

It’s a popular area for outdoor breaks, with some fantastic scenery just waiting to be explored, whether on foot, on bike or on horseback. The nearby Tinto hill is the highest peak in the area, providing a good challenge and a wonderful view for experienced hill walkers – and also serves as a popular launching point for hang gliding and paragliding. In Scotland, you’re rarely far from a good golf course and Biggar is no exception, with an excellent course just outside the town, and many more within less than an hour’s drive.

Like the rest of the hotel, the restaurant and bar mix classic style with traditional comforts, with dark wooden panelling, traditional décor and smart furnishings. The menu makes the most of the hotel’s wonderful location, offering a range of options that showcase the best of local produce for some truly authentic Scottish cuisine. Behind the bar, there’s an excellent selection of whiskies on offer, together with a range of other spirits, wines and beers.
