Mold

The traditional market town of Mold, located in Flintshire, is ideally situated between the dramatic Clwydian Mountains and the undulating plains of Cheshire. The local area gives visitors many opportunities to explore the countryside, whether by rambling or walking the many beaten tracks, or forging your own way around with a mountain bike. Visitors can also see the ancient site of Mold Castle, a motte-and-bailey castle that the town was built around. Little remains today except the mound upon which this 11th century castle was built. Nowadays guests can visit a memorial garden on the site, in honour of World War I soldiers from Mold. The market tradition of the town dates back to the 17th century, each Wednesday and Saturday locals and tourists mingle together to browse the local goods, which sit next to high street stores and boutique family run businesses. A fantastic place to take a relaxing break, settling down in a rural pub and enjoying a hearty traditional meal and a cider with the locals.

We love Mold because...

  • Beautiful mountain backdrop
  • Traditional market town
  • Idyllic historic castle
